When the fall show itself from the good side with sun and warmt, the day has to be used. So we went on a forest hike ;) This time on new paths.
Even if the little man could sit in the carriage most of the time, it's good to stretch ones feet inbetween. And then some "fuel" can be good to have ;)
On the way home Eirin got tired and got to ride with daddy :)
And it was refreshing to get back to the parking lot wth some wind and the lake. The kids had some fun time throwing rocks and looking for fish.

The kids and I have been out looking for fall today ;) And we found it. Take a look in my hiking blog to read and see lots of pictures :)
This has to be my favorite fall flower - Calluna. It's a common plant to have in pots by the front portch during fall/winter here in Norway. But it is much more beautiful to see it in nature.
I got this award from Lise a time ago - thank you so much :)
I'll give it to Annie, Tone, Teresa, Elisabeth, Cormz, Galadriel, Guri, Kristin Helene, Tammy, Merete, Monika, Heidelweiss, Strikkemor(o), Tiennie, Monica, Tama & Catherine
Here are the rules:
1. You can give it to one or one hundred or any number inbetween - it's up to you. Make sure you link to their site in your post.
Purpose of the Award: To send love and acknowledgement to women who brighten your day, teach you new things and live their lives fully with generosity and joy.
We've been out looking for the fall today ;) And it was not far away. The trees and plants are starting to get dressed in red, orange and yellow.
And the forest is laden with berries! We didn't bring anything to pick berries in, so we'll have to do that another day. Here's bilberries with red and green laves, bog bilberries - which are big and lots of, crowberries, bunchberries and lingonberries.
And the calluna stands purple and beautiful on the bogs!
The two oldest and I hiked further up the hillside, and we could see that the leaves on the trees starts to fade.

Fog like this is typical fall weather here at us. And I don't think it's going to lift anytime soon. There was a gleam of sun around 8, but now it's all foggy again. I do like it though. It makes a magical atmosphere. You could almost see the elves and fairies dancing among the flowers ;)
Når tåken legger seg over jordet

Eirin had her first day at school today :) And she had lots of butterflies in her stomach this morning. I guess mine was just as filled with butterflies as well ;) It's strange to send your kids out in the "big world" - they look so small... But I know she'll be fine. It's just my mummy heart that gets a little sad to see them growup. Her she is together with Erlend, who started 3rd grade, waiting for the schoolbus.
Living at the country side means small schools. And Eirin's class only have 9 pupils, 7 girls and 2 boys. And as you can see - it has to be pink ;)
And when the siblings are off to school, Endre is having some good time with mummy all alone ;)
Here's a picture taken some days ago. I asked him what he was doing, and he said:
"I'm making a food show!" *lol*
So there you have it - I love watching BBC Food ;) Maybe he's going to be a chef.
And there has been some knitting. I've finished some socks I had laying around ;) With fall just around the corner, the kids need warm accesories. I think mittens are next. Although I really like the stripes to match when I knit socks, I kinda think these are cool. They are knitted in Regia Cracy Color #5439 on needles 2,5 mm. And I guess there is no need to say that they are Eirin's ;)
The below socks are another x-mas present. Knitted in Opal Brasil #5002 on needles 2,75 mm.

Endre was done after a little while, but Eirin kept on for hours :) There is a norwegian book "Tegne med tråd-brodere med barn" which I have to borrow next time I go to the library. Hope there is some great ideas in it.

We don't take our kids to the movie, we wait until the films get released on dvd's ;) So this weekend it's been the Spiderwick Chronicles. I would not say that I think it's a great film, but it was ok. After reading the books with the kids, there is so much we missed in the film. Dragons, dwarfs, elves and so many other creatures.
Eirin loved the River Troll - she thought it was so funny in the book with it's slowly way of speaking ;) So she got disappointed when it never showed up...
So if you liked the film, you just have to read the books and the Field Guide - which is filled with beautiful pictues! I would love to see some dwarfs, elves and sprites in the film.

When we sat down by our diningtable to have breakfast this morning we saw that our Stapelia grandiflora (Starfish flower or Stor ordensblomst) had open one of it's spud. And within some hours it got completely open and curled. It's a really beautiful flower, but it smell terrible - to attract flies. Here is a great site. I wish I could have other sorts of this. So if anyone have one I'd be happy if you would share a cutting :)

My sweater is finally done, it's been for a couple of days now. Just waiting for the sun to peep out for a photoshot ;) I love it! It's such a cozy and warm sweater. Perfect to snuggle in when it gets colder outside. And it's going to be a must in my backpack when I go hiking :) The yarn is a tiny bit itchy, but I'll survive!
I like this photo best - it actually looks like I have a waist ;)
Pattern: Flettegenser from the booklet Til fjells # 0611 from Sandnes garn
Yarn: 750 g Greenland by Løve Garn # 06
Needles: 7 mm
I guess this is my best attempt ever to sew in the sleeves on a sweater. I just love how invisible the seam is :)

We have rainy days now, but last night a soft pink/red light filled our livingroom. The sun colored the sky just before she disappeared behind the mountain. It felt like even the air was red when I went outside to take the picture. And the lake was so beautiful, the picture don't give it justice...
I've got this meme from Teresa ;)
5 things on my to do list today
- Grocery shopping
- Water my plants
As you can see by all the knitting, I don't have much on my plan today;)
What was I doing 10 years ago?
- I was just about to start nursing school and had met hubby.
Places I have lived.
- Skøelv, Brøstadbotn, Harstad and Finnsnes, all in North-Norway
5 things I would do if I were a billioaire.
- Build a house
- Buy a new car
- Give some to my nearest family
- Buy lots of yarn
- Save the rest for my kids

Even though the meadowsweet is a pretty and sweet smelling flower, I don't like it much! It makes my nose itchy and runny :/ So the last days I've spent most time indoors. The minute I step outside I start to sneeze...
But being indoors has it good sides too. Today the kids have been good friends without teasing each other, so I have had time to be a very domestic mom ;) I have baked bread and rolls so the freezer is full. And I have washed the floors. Feels good! If you click on the picture above to get to my flickr site, you can see the two big flower spuds my cactus in the window has :) I'm so hoping they will open.

Love that we at least have had one day with high temperatures so the kids could dip their toes in the sea.
Love to have Erlend and Eirin back home agian after spending a week and a half at their grandparents. Love to go cloudberrie picking with them.
Love to sleep in a tent and hear the sleeping breath of everyone.
We have wanted to go camping in tents with the kids for along time, but it has just been with the thought... But this summer we have bought sleepingbags for all of the kids, so now we are hoping for some great trips before the snow. We have a large military tent from USA which we use to put up both summer and winter. We have it on the meadow just behind our house, so it was a great first time tent trip for us. Short way home if anything should go wrong ;)
Since the tent is so close to the house, we didn't grab our sleepingbags until it was close to bedtime. Here is Endre picking his tea to go with supper.
This is not a usual sight in a tent I guess. But since we was close to the house we could have electricity with those facility that gives ;)
Endre felt aslepp fast, as long as his pacifier and the cosycloth is with him. The other two used longer time with Donald Duck reading and some pushing and teasing. Which lead to some rearranging of the sleeping places ;) But we had a great night and Eirin has already starting to ask when we are going to sleep in a tent again.
Sunday after clearing up sleepingbags and other stuff from the tent, we went on a trip tp the sea with mu mum and my brother and sister. We found a great spot where the kids could play. We grilled meat and had a great time for hours. This spot is also great if you want to fish, so I guess we'll be back soon :)
