Turn a square hat

turn a square1

I have knitted a hat in matching colours as the horse sweater.
Pattern: Turn a square by Brooklyn Tweed.
Yarn: 50 g brown Sisu #318 and leftovers from the sweater.
Needles: 2,5 & 3 mm + a 3 mm hook

I have crocheted a picot edge to make it a bit more girly ;)
We have had fog as thick as porridge all day and around 3 pm the sun managed to make it go away. So I dressed the kids and took my knitting with me outdoors. But boy, my fingers got freezing cold after a few rounds. So I guess it's time to find something else to do outdoors now (bring in fire wood, rake old leaves) *sigh*
Here is some photos of the fog disappearing :)

Tomorrow is October 1st, and my blog will turn pink to support Pink for October.
Do you do the same? Let me know so I can visit you :)

Horse sweater

horsesweater1

Just after breakfast there was a little stop in the rain, so Eirin and I ran outside to take some photos ;) And I am glad we did because it has been raining nonstop since... We went out in such hurry that I had no time to steam it until after we got in ;)

horsesweater2

Pattern: A mix of this and this patterns.
Yarn: 250 g brown #318, 50 g pale green #331, 50 g pale pink # 366 and pink #363 Viking of Norway Baby Ull , 50 g white #1001 Sisu and 50 g of some unknown green.
Needles: 2,5 & 3 mm

And as I told you yesterday - I love the colours. If I had the patient I would knit me a sweater too in these colours.

horse sweater inside out

The inside out. If you use your imagination, you can almost see the horses running so fast you barly manage to see them with their manes flapping in the wind. (Or maybe it is just me *lol*)

seaming

I used kichner stich under the sleeves. And you have to look close to find the "seam".

The only thing I regret with this sweater is that I didn't learn how to make joggless jogs before I started the yoke. But if you don't know where the pattern repeat starts and ends, you have to look closely to find it.

lue striper

But I can make those joggless jogs now, because I have started on a Turn a square hat in the same colours as the sweater ;)

First fall storm

leaf in the rain

The last couple of days has been windy and rainy. We've had our first fall storm and the forest has turned from it's fireing colours into a grey mass... This little leaf has been on our livingroom window since yesterday. Despite some heavy rainfall that made it impossible to see out, the leaf hang in there.

finished

I really hope the weather will be a little better tomorrow, because the sweater is done and I really want to take some photo's outdoors with Eirin wearing it. Right now it is laying on the arm rest beside me. And I just have to take a look at it now and then - I love the colours!

For my norwegian readers.

her?

Takk for oppmerksomheten.

Almost done

horse sweater

I am almost done with the yoke :) I hope to have it done before the weekend. It is soon time for sweaters.

I am not found of advertising films on tv, but when it involves knitting it might be ok ;)

Rain

raindrops

It's been raining all night.
Big, heavy raindrops has been hammering on the roof most of the night.
I have woken up several times by it. But it's a good sound though, almost like a lullaby...
It seems like the sun might get her way through the skies.
I hope so , because Erlend & Eirin are going hiking in the forest at school today.

Horse sweater

Horse sweater

The sleeves are finally on the needles with the body which has taken some time to finish - it's boring to knit in a solid color...
But finally I can start the fun part, making the yoke :)
I have not completed the pattern around the yoke yet, but I'll just start and see how it ends ;) I think I'll use this chart and put in the horses from this where the boy/girl pattern is. I might not use the pale pink, but have not desided yet.

Precious moments

When I put Eirin to bed some heavy raindrops started to fall on the roof, and she asked me:

"Mom, can stars fall as rain?"

Oh, how I wish I could say yes, open the window and grab her a handfull....

Monster mom

Me

Do you ever get the feeling of being a monster mom???
I do... And monster mom has been here quite often lately.
And I am really trying to get her to leave, but it is hard.
And I can not blame it all on the kids, even if they are eating each other eyes out several times a day.
The kids are yelling, I am yelling and I am pretty sure if we had a pet - it would be yelling too...
And I am so tired of it.
I need to think through what kind of mom I want to be.
I have to put my needs aside for a while and do things and play more with the kids.
I miss when we all could sit down at the table and draw without the kids fighting over the pencils.
I see that the biggest "problem" is to get all three of them to work together and cooperate.
and I have been talking alot about that the past days, so now Endre is going around saying to himself: "We need to cooperate" ;)
So there might be a light at the end of this thunnel!
But I guess as they grow up they want to do different things, and I wish I could split in three and be there for all of them at the same time. But I can't.
And I know it is just a fase in our lives we are going through, but it hurts when all I want is my kids to be the best friends in the world and not fighting over everything.

Fire

And I see that we need to do more together as a family.
Not just during the weekends.
It can be difficult when hubby is working late almost every day.
But then we just have to use the time we have.
So yesterday we went up to our lean-to and made dinner there.
Despite the kids fighting we had a good time (at least I think so...)
We need to turn the tv and the computer off more often and do more of this.
I am so looking forward to dark nights and hiking in the dark with flash lights :)

smiley lunch

But who am I really to complain?
I have healty kids, we love each other and have all the things we desire.
I guess I just had to let it off my chest....

Middag i skogen / Dinner in the woods

Sunset

The sun goes down earlier and earlier now, and now it goes down about 5.30...
Still we have a wonderfull fall weather, so we just have to use it as long as it lasts. So we decided to go to our lean-to tonight and make dinner.

The chef ;)

Kokken ;)

The chef ;)

Dinner

And there is no doubt that the foood tastes better outside!

Dinner

Biff med salat og pasta - nam, nam!

Steak with salad and pasta - yum, yum!

My view

I wish I was as warm as my oldest son... While the rest of us put on some more clothes when the sun goes down, he sits in his t-shirt and feels comfy. I even regret not getting my mittens with me ;)

Fire

Så da er det godt å ha et bål og varme seg på og varm te i koppen!

So then it's good to have a fire going to warm oneself by and some hot tea in the cup!

Oue monkey :)

Our little monkey didn't need any fire to keep warm ;)

getting cold

Someone is getting tires and ready for bed...

fog starts to come

We went home when it was close to bedtime. the fog started to lay ot's blanket over the bog and everything fetl damp. i hope we get frost before the snow as we had last year.

Beautiful Sunday

tlake2

We've been hiking today! Read more here!

sleeves

It's going slow with the sweater... I've almost knitted both sleeves though, so the fun part is yet to come with the body and the yoke :)

mitten

And I've started a pair of mittens.

But now I'm off to watch the new episode of Himmelblå!

Fjellvann / Mountain lake

tlake2

Today we discovered a great hiking terrain nearby :) It's a bit up in the mountains and the lake is surronded by mountains - beautiful!

tlake1

There wasen't a roll on the lake and outwards the day the temperature rised up to +20 C. Some of the kids dipped their toes, but I think it was a bit cold ;)

tlake4

The beach was long and the kids throw rocks and sticks, catched small fish in a cup and got water in their wellies - that's why a pair of socks are hanging to dry by the fire ;)

tlake9

Endre and grandmother. He is a proud boy, because he walked all by himself without riding on my back today! But then again we didn't walk very long...

Frost

fog

This past week has been foggy, cold and sunny.
The days are filled with sun from a cloudfree sky, the nights are cold and therefor the early mornings are filled with a thick fog.

frost2

Today we woke up to -3 C. Everything is covered with frost because the fog freezes during the night. It's beautiful though even if it's cold.

frost

frost1

We don't get "hit" by the sunbeams before the clock is around 10 in the morning now... And it's really beautiful to see all the little frost drops glitter before the sun melts them.

golden leaves

The forest is starting to dress in gold, red and yellow around here ;) We are going to have some great weather during the weekend too, so I guess we'll be out hiking and really enjoy these wonderful fall days :)
Right now I'm havig a fire going in the stove, tea in my cup and my knitting beside me. But before I can sit down and enjoy my knitting, Endre and I are going upstairs and look for our winter quilts. I have already found our winterclothes and gone through them to see what fits or not. And I'm so glad to be able to hand down clothes from one kid to the other. But I see that I really have to speed up my knitting and make some more mittens...

Trying to make a horse chart

Horse sweater

Eirin needs a new sweater, so I'm trying to make a chart from this pattern. I didn't like any of the other patterns in the booklet, so I didn't buy it. The original sweater is knitted in alpakka, but I've bought Viking baby ull instead. There is a difference in gauge, so I was sitting all yesterday trying to get the chart right to fit a decrease in the round from another pattern I have. Hopefully I have got it right ;)

online socks

And a pair of socks is off needles. I still have some yarn left, so there might be a pair of mittens too ;)
Pattern: 56 st
Yarn: OnLine Supersocke Fantasy color #1013
Needles: 2,75 mm

The first snow on the mountain tops are here!

And we could see the first snowfall on the mountain tops today...
