On the Needles :: Molly and Waffle Socks

20150225_114828

It's been a while since I've posted one of my On the Needles post...
Life just happend and I haven't felt much for either blogging or knitting these past few months. Hopefully things will change now as the sun is here again and my mood seems to get lighter.

So what am I reading. Since the Game of Thrones series is starting soon, I have to read ahead so I know what will happend ;) I started early in December and I'm still just halfway through A Dance with Dragons. I read a few chapter now and then when I have the house to my self.

On the needles are a hat - Molly, which I am knitting in a wool and cotton blend. So hopefuly Eirin will have it since I hope it won't be itchy.
And of course there is a sock lingering on the needles too ;)

What are you knitting and reading this week?

Snowcircles

20150223_134422

The kids have their winterbreak this week and with a forcast with various weather, we just had to get out when the sun was shining :) While some went skiing up and down the hill, some of us made snowcircles. After we started to make them a few years ago it's been a fun yearly thing we do when the snow is right. Here are some post with snowcircles from previous years.

FO :: Magic Mirror Socks

Magic MirrorSocks

These socks are really really pretty, although incredibly hard to photograph....
The colour is so hard to capture right and the sock itself is so full of pattern I'm not sure I've managed to get the best angles.. But I think you get the idea about how they look ;)

I cast these on because I have decided to try to make a pair of socks each month from the patterns one can choose from in the Sock Knitters Anonymous group on Ravelry. And in January one of the choices among others, was a pattern designed by Jeannie Cartmel. She has a lot of pretty ones, but I wanted a free pattern and found this.

Pattern: Magic Mirror Socks (free pattern)
Yarn: 77 g Yummy Fingering superwash sock #Candy Skein 1st Birthday
Needles: 2,5 mm / US 1,5
Made for: Not sure. They are a little bit snug for me and a little too big for Eirin and she complained that they started to itch after a few photos.. If I'll knit them again, I would knit them a size bigger or choose a thicker yarn so that they will fit me ;)
Size: Medium, 64 sts
