FO :: Stormborn Shawl

My Stormborn Shawl has been off the needles a few weeks, but I didn't block it until this weekend.
I really love the lace, but it came out a bit bigger than I thought it would.... So I am not sure if I'll keep it...

I've never knitted a shawl in this shape before and I guess that's what makes it so big.
If I wrap it around me neck as I usuallt do with my shawl, the tip of it goes almost down to my jeans. A little to long for my liking. So I guess it will be put aside for a while until I know if I'll frog it or not.

Birds nest and rainbow socks

The kids had their last day at school on friday, so summer break is here for the next couple of months :) The rain finally stoped and the sun came out. It's not warm, just around 10 C. But we after weeks with rain and even snow and hail, it's great to be out in the forest. We've been to our lean-to in the forest behind our house the last two days. And today Eirin almost walked on a willow grouse nest. The mama bird took off right in front of her and almost scared us all to death. We have marked the place, so we will get back and see if there are some chicks :)

The Bog bean is flowering. Love this little wildflower.

From yesterdays hike in the forest. We found lots of tinder fungus.

And I finally remember to stop at this waterfall we always drive by on the way to my mom.
It's a place I visited often as a kid.

And ofcourse there is some knitting. I need it to keep me sane now that the kids are off school...

Endre wanted a pair of rainbow socks and I just happend to have a ball of Nordlys in the right colourway ;) They won't be matching, but he is fine with that.

My sister's birthday socks are off the needles :)
I was a little afraid that the smallest size would be too small, but they are perfect.
I think I will make a couple of mindless socks after this pair... Lots of twisted stitches and cabeling, so not the best project to knit on while watching tv.

Snow in June

You know you live in the arctic when you wake up to this in the middle of June...
The weather is crazy today due to cold wind coming from the Northpole. I think we've had all kinds of weather so far. Snow, rain, hail, wind and a little sunshine in between and the temperatur has been down to a 0 C. So I hope some of my plants have survived in the garden...
But we tend to forget all this after a couple of days with sun and warm weather again ;)

So I keep the fire going in the woodstove, bake bread and knit on my sisters birthday socks. I always knit her a pair of socks for her birthday as I know they will be worn and keeps her feet warm.
The pattern is Budleigh from Coop Knits Socks.

And there has been lots of cake this weekend. We celebrated Eirin's 12th bithday. (Oh, they grow up so fast..) This is Verdens beste or the Worlds best cake. You can find an english recipe here :)

FO :: Brighton

I'm a terrible bad blogger these days...
Summer finally arrived, skipping spring as usual, so I've been soaking up sun and worked in the garden. So there's been little time for the blog and other social medias...
But there has been knitting :)
I watch a few podcast's and although I am a bit behind on some of them, I decided to watch some episodes of Rainlover's podcast a few weeks ago, and I found out I was the lucky winner of the Coop Knits Socks e-book :) Sarah is having a kal out the year were we can knit any of Rachel Coopey's sock pattern. So I decided to cast on Brighton. I loved the colours on the pair on the pattern page, and I found some similar colours in my stash :) My row gauge must be way off as mine came out alot longer than  the one pictured as short socks on the pattern page... But I like them!

The little fish as I call them, swims in opposit directions on each sock.
