Fall is my favourite season

It's been a week with some wonderful fall weather. We've had temperatures up around 15 C, so it's been great to spend time outside. The kids and I was on a local childrens club on Thursday. And Endre was soaking wet after playing in the water, throwing stones and looking for treasures :) Eirin was just a huge, big smile after riding the horse Salt & Pepper :)
And yesterday was spent by the lean-to picking berries. We picked blueberries, lingonberries and black crowberries. We make jam of the blue - and lingon berries. We use lingonberry jam as a accessory to meat dinner. Like meatcakes in gravy or game meat. I'm going to make syrup of the crowberries.
We have some berries in the garden as well. Blackcurrant and the berries from the Bird Cherry. I haven't used the Bird cherry berries before, but have found a recipe for a liquer. So if I have enough berries I might give it a try ;)
While we were in the forest, some sheep got close and the kids managed to pet one of them before they ran away. And nothing tastes as good as lunch made over an open fire! We had fishcake burgers ;)

Summer

geitrams

There's no doubt, the summer is coming to an end. Which we also can see at the fireweed. It blooms from the bottom an dup, and now there is not many spuds left before the top is blooming... But we have had three great weeks with summerweather which we can look back at now when the fall is coming.

at the lake2

In the middel of the week we went to Tårnvatnet so the kids could bathe.
It's very shallow here, so the water was somewhat "warm" ;)

Berry picking

We went to the lean-to this weekend and picked berries.

cloudberries

The bogs is full of cloudberries this year!

bilberries

And the bilberries are big. We just picked enough for supper this time.
So we have to go and pick more next week ;)

yum

And it tasted good!

Warming at the fire before bedtime

We gathered around the fire before bedtime. Not that is was cold, but
it's part of the cosiness :)

Finally asleep ;)

Endre and I slept in the tent while Hubby and the other kids slept in
the lean-to. It took a while before Endre settled and fall asleep...

Morning mist

And even if one fall asleep late, one wake up early when camping
(at least Endre do so..) And the morning mist hang over the mountains.

Our camp

When the mist lighten, big rainclouds appeared. So we had breakfast,
played a little and packed our stuff and went home. Just in
time before a heavy rainfall.

A day at the beach

cabin

We had rented this cabin for the weekend and went up to it Friday afternoon. After playing outside for hours until bedtime, everything was just fine. But with a cabin that everyone can rent, I guess there will always be someone that don't bother to clean up after oneself... And I think it must be years since last time this cabin has been washed down from roof to floor... So when we went inside and the kids started to play in the beds and sofa, the air got filled with dust... The result, Endre got thight in his chest, and could have gotten an asthma attack if we had stayed :( So we just had to pack up and drive home.

A day at the beach

But the weekend turned out great still :) Saturday we went to Aglapsvik where there is a great beach.

blue mussels

The tide was low so one part of the beach was filled with
big rocks covered with little blue mussels.

There was several common eider mams with kids swimming, but
no dads. A bit sad because they have some great colors.

Søndagstur / Sundayhike

sand1

When the fall show itself from the good side with sun and warmt, the day has to be used. So we went on a forest hike ;) This time on new paths.

sand2

Even if the little man could sit in the carriage most of the time, it's good to stretch ones feet inbetween. And then some "fuel" can be good to have ;)

sand4

On the way home Eirin got tired and got to ride with daddy :)

sand5

And it was refreshing to get back to the parking lot wth some wind and the lake. The kids had some fun time throwing rocks and looking for fish.

Skøvatnet

cabin

The kids and I have spent a couple of days together with mum and my sister at a cabin by the lake Skøvatnet. It rained the first day, but we walked a little around by the lake.

We headed to the beach the second day - and we had it all by ourself. It has not been many really warm days this summer, so the water is still very cold. So instead of bathing we made sandcastles and looked for treasures ;)

Along the edge of the beach there was a lot of harebells.

Vår ved vannet / Spring by the lake

lake2

The kids and I went to the lake today. The sun and the wind the last days has made the ice split, and there is big lanes here and there.

The migratory birds has finally started to come.
We've had a mallard couple here for several years, and yesterday
did we finally see that they had arrived :)
