What are you knitting and reading this week? I'm joining Ginny at Small Things for Yarn Along.

Knitting: My Setesdalkofte is slowly getting done. I'm almost done with the yoke decreases and then the buttonbands is all that is left to knit. I must confess that the type of buttonbands that this pattern calls for, is not my favorite to knit. It looks great, but I either knit them too long or too short... But you know, practice makes perfect ;) In between knitting on my kofte I knit on various small projects. I finished a pair of socks some days ago and have made a couple of sockhead cowls that needs to be blogged. But today I needed something mindless to knit on and since my goal this year is to not just knit socks, I decided to cast on a hat. I had my youngest to pick out a skein of yarn earlier this month that I shall knit a project from and he decided to pick out some beautiful merino Hacho from Mirasol. The hat pattern is Barley, a great mindless knit. Hopefully it will be a pretty hat.

Reading: I'm still reading The Orchard of Lost Souls, as I had started last week. But last night I felt the need for a good crime/thriller story, so I picked up a library book by Mo Hayder -  Birdman. It's the first book in a series and it SO good. I had to force myself to put it away and go to sleep last night.

FO :: Aurora Hat

I have a lot of fingering yarn in my stash and it can't be socks all of it...
So I have decided to make some hats. This is the first one - The Aurora Hat.

I quite like this pattern and I might knit another in other colors.

It might not be time for hats right now. But last week was cold and rainy and we woke up to fresh snow on the highest mountain tops this morning, so fall is definitely here and winter is on it's way...

FO's :: Sockhead Hat & Green Striped Socks

Taking a picture of oneself wearing a hat is difficult - just saying... I think these two photos was the best out of ca. 15 photos... Anyway, I have knitted my first sockhead hat. I've seen it around a lot, but never thought it was something I would cast on and knit until I found a skein of yarn in my stash that didn't look good in any of the patterns I tried. I saw that it would stripe, so I decided to give the Sockhead pattern a try. I'm not sure that this will be one of my favorite hats..., but it's snug and warm and I know it will heep my head and ears warm ;) And who knows, maybe I will cast on a second one for one of the kids..

And althoug there haven't been a lot of knitting so far this summer - a pair of socks for Hubby has left the needles. They are knitted in the same yarn as the Yellow Stripes socks I made earlier this year.

We are having a bad weather this weekend with lots of wind and sleet... So time has been spent indoors knitting and watching podcast ;) In between two sleet flurries I managed to persuade the kids to wear their new hats so I could take some photos.

On the Needles :: Molly and Waffle Socks

It's been a while since I've posted one of my On the Needles post...
Life just happend and I haven't felt much for either blogging or knitting these past few months. Hopefully things will change now as the sun is here again and my mood seems to get lighter.

So what am I reading. Since the Game of Thrones series is starting soon, I have to read ahead so I know what will happend ;) I started early in December and I'm still just halfway through A Dance with Dragons. I read a few chapter now and then when I have the house to my self.

On the needles are a hat - Molly, which I am knitting in a wool and cotton blend. So hopefuly Eirin will have it since I hope it won't be itchy.
And of course there is a sock lingering on the needles too ;)

A friend asked if I could crochet  Minion hats for her son. He wanted one good and one evil ;)

Hello again...

I know. It's been almost a month since I posted last time...
The polar nights with it's darkness has really been hard for me this year, with sleepless nights and a low mood... So I haven't felt like blogging at all. But the sun is about to turn soon, so I know it will get better!
I've been knitting in my absent (have to do something when I'm wide awake in the middle of the night). Right now I'm knitting a pair of Owl mittens for myself, but I've also finished some socks and a hat.

The Christmas Tree is up!

And we have had pinnekjøtt for dinner. Pinnekjøtt is one of the traditional dishes we have for dinner at Christmas here in Norway and it's made from the rib of mutton or lamb and it is dried and salted.

It's been a while again. My blogging mojo is low... I think it has to do with shorter and darker days - my mood seems to get a bit low as well during these dark months. But I'll try to pop in here more often :) I have been knitting now that my arms doesn't hurt as much as they did. So there are things on the needles I'll have to tell you about soon and some fo's.
First is a pair of Marius socks. They are knitted in a heavy wool yarn which makes them big enough to wear as a second pair of woolsocks, which I often do during winter when my feet are cold.
Winter is here with and we've gotten a little bit of snow. Enouh for the kids to build a snowman and a snow lantern last night. But winter also means I can wear all the wool. I'm wearing my Nancy cardigan today while I snuggle on the sofa knitting.

FO :: Minecraft mittens & hat

The kids and especially Endre loves minecraft. To build worlds and survive the creepers ;)
I have tried, but I just don't understand the facination....
Endre became really excited (even though it doesn't show in the picture - not fun to be a model when you are tird after a day at school...) when he saw that the hat and mittens was finished.

The green colour is a bit more lime in real life.
And I have another hat on the needles which is going to be a christmas gift.

Pattern: I just found a hat and a mitten pattern and added the creepers ;) The hat has 96 sts for ribbing and 99 sts for the body of hat. Search minecraft on ravelry and you can find lots of free charts :)

FO :: Kvikk Lunsj Hats

Kvikk Lunsj is the norwegian version of KitKat. And it's the chocolate we norwegians bring along with us when we go hiking, skiing or just a walk in the forest. On the inside of the wrapping you an find descriptions for trails or hikes ;) And we can upload photos and descriptions on our own hikes and share our Kvikk Lunsj moments on this page.
There's been a free pattern for a hat knitted in the Kvikk Lunsj colors, but a while ago Freia and Hillesvåg ullvarefabrikk got together and made a kit with a pattern and yarn in the right colors. And I had to buy one. The kit has enough yarn for two hats in the biggest size. These two are in the smallest size and I could have made one more if there was just a little bit more red yarn...
