Jannock

I’m finish with the vest :) After Endre tried it on when I had finished it, I see that I might should have knitted with size 4mm needles or knitted the 8 years size. Because it got a little tight around the chest… But it fits him in lenght and around the stomach. But then again all kids comes in differenst shapes and sizes ;)

Yarn: I used a norwegian yarn, Mor Aase. 0.34 skeins Gray = 37.1 yards (33.9m) and 3.17 skeins Blue= 345.5 yards (316.0m)
Needles: 3 and 3.5 mm
Size: 6 years

Yarn Along :: WIP Wednesday

It's Wednesday again and time for Yarn Along and WIP's Wednesday :)

Knitting: I'm test knitting a vest at the moment. It's for Endre :) The two whales I was working on last week is finished - and the kids loved them :)

Reading:  I've read out both The Roseatta Key and The City of Thieves since last time. And I even read the third book about Ethan Gage as well - The Dakota Cipher. They were all good books, but I loved The City of Thieves!! Now I'm reading the second book in a norwegian fantasy trilogy and a Polish book Heksenes datter (The witches daughter).

Hi

I didn't plan to take a blog break, but it just happend and it have felt good with a couple of weeks not blogging or reading other blogs. (I'm trying not to think about all the blog post waiting for my in my reader though...) So what have I've been doing? Well, there have been knitting :), we've enjoyed fall and all it's great things and hubby and I got married on October 1st :) We had a small wedding with just the closest family for dinner. I guess it was about time after 12 years being engaged ;)

Anyway, the first snowfall came yesterday, and I managed to knit up a vest for Eirin just in time :) Sorry about the greyish pictures, but the light is not great at 7:25 am - I had to capture a few pictures before the schoolbus came ;)

And as you can see, it dosn't take much snow to make a snowman ;)

Pattern: Tunika med rund sal by Unn Søiland Dale from  the booklet Sandnes Til Fjells 0913 Barn/Voksne.
Yarn: Viking of Norway Baby Ull. About 150 g dark grey, 50 g white and a little bit of pink.
Needles: 2,5 mm & 3 mm.
Size: 8 years.

A close up of the pattern. There is a women sized version too which I really want to knit for myself.

This green yarn called my name at the local yarn shop a while ago, and they ended up as a pair of socks for hubby.
Pattern: 64 st, toe-up, short-row heel. A small rib just above the heel and a rib cuff.
Yarn: Drops Fabel #542.
Needles: 2,5 mm.

And you can see why Fall is my favourite season - the weather and the colour changes so fast. One day we had temperatures down at -6 C, which made a beautiful frosting on everything. And after the first storm all the leaves were gone and the only colour left was all the rowan berries.

Tappan Zee Cardigan

This have been my "outdoors knitting" the last week or so. I was a bit worried that I would ran out of yarn, but I had enough. It's my first top down jacket and I really like to knit this way. So much easier to measure the length.

Sorry about the poor pictures, but I didn't like the pictures hubby took of me... So you just have to see it un-modelled ;)

Pattern: Tappan Zee Cardigan.
Yarn: 355 g Mor Aase superwash. The colour on the first picture shows the colour best.
Needles: 4 mm.
Size: 42. It fits perfect. I have to block it a bit to prevent the edges to curl though ;)

I only had three of these buttons in my button jar (which was enough), and I think they look great on the jacket.

And we've had a really warm day with 15 C, so the spuds on the trees are starting to peek out :)

Matryoshka vest

The vest is finally off the needles. A fun knit, but a little boring with all the grey - Eirin would not have stripes on the back, so it's grey too. I knitted the neckband this morning, so it was finished when she came home from school. And she's still wearing it - which is the best praise I can get ;)
The only thing I "don't like" is that knitted in this size, the doll get so small... So it might have been as cute as the baby size if knitted in a thicker yarn. Just a thought.

Yarn: 175 g grey Viking of Norway Baby Ull and leftovers.
Needles: 3 mm.

Size: 8 years.

Storm on the way...

The weather has gone from -16 C (yesterday) to 1 C, rain and a storm today. The storm (strong gale) Ask is hitting Northern Norway later tonight. Hopefully the kids will be safe and sound in bed sleeping when it comes our way. Right now it's quiet before the storm, but it's raining so much that it's leaking in one of our window in the living room :(
We have light some candles in case the power will go out. I doubt it will, but it makes it cosy anyway :) And I have casted on for a new project ;)

Eirin is hard to please when it comes to handknits.... I've been asking her several times about knitting her a new sweater or jacket since the one she wears now is getting too small. But she refuses all of my suggestions *sigh* So you can imagine my surprise when she wanted me to knit this vest!!

She even wanted me to knit her a hat from a ball of glittering, red acrylic yarn. I'm not sure she will wear it much though... Everything itches if you ask her.

Yarn: 50 g red and a small amount of white Plus silver from Idena (discontinued).
Needles: 3 mm
