FO :: Nurmilintu Shawl

I have had a skein in my stash named Zombies since 2009, too pretty to knit whenever I took it out and had a look at it. But a while ago I decided that I need to knit up these pretty skeins I just seem to store in a box. The funny part is that the skein I have saved for years suddenly wasn't as pretty as I once thought knit up...  It's ok, but some yarn is prettier in the skein.

FO :: Menehune

My Menehune shawl is blocked and ready to use when it gets colder.
The pattern can be found by watching the first four episodes of the With Mel podcast or here on Ravelry.
I made it a tiny bit bigger as it's more a shawlette than a shawl. But even though I just added a few more garter rows it's still big enough to wrap around my neck as I like it  :)

FO :: Stormborn Shawl

My Stormborn Shawl has been off the needles a few weeks, but I didn't block it until this weekend.
I really love the lace, but it came out a bit bigger than I thought it would.... So I am not sure if I'll keep it...

I've never knitted a shawl in this shape before and I guess that's what makes it so big.
If I wrap it around me neck as I usuallt do with my shawl, the tip of it goes almost down to my jeans. A little to long for my liking. So I guess it will be put aside for a while until I know if I'll frog it or not.

On The Needles :: Stormborn & Tardis Socks

Knitting: I'm halfway through clue 2 on my Stormborn shawl. I like it so far, but I do hope there will be some new lace in the next clue... And I have one Tardis sock off the needles and have casted n for the second one.

Reading: I picked up Kanten av isødet - (Chasing the Light in english) the last time I was at the library. Haven't read much yet, but I think it might be good.

What's on your needles today?

On The Needles :: Stormborn

When I saw that there was going to be a Game of Thrones mystery kal this month, I just had to play along :) I love the books and enjoy watching the series. And when I found out it was a shawl inspired by Daenerys it had to be blue.
The first clue came out on Monday, but I didn't have time until today to cast on. I finished it this morning and I really like it so far. It's not so easy to see, but we have dragon scales :)

WIP :: Swallowtail Shawl

Reading: I picked up The Forgotten Garden a few days ago - and so far I love the story.

A tiny girl is abandoned on a ship headed for Australia in 1913. She arrives completely alone with nothing but a small suitcase containing a few clothes and a single book—a beautiful volume of fairy tales. She is taken in by the dockmaster and his wife and raised as their own. On her twenty-fi rst birthday, they tell her the truth, and with her sense of self shattered and very little to go on, "Nell" sets out to trace her real identity. Her quest leads her to Blackhurst Manor on the Cornish coast and the secrets of the doomed Mountrachet family. But it is not until her granddaughter, Cassandra, takes up the search after Nell’s death that all the pieces of the puzzle are assembled. 

Knitting: After finishing three pair of socks latey, I felt the need for a shawl and some lace. So I casted on Swallowtail yesterday.

FO :: Waihi

I love these socks!
They are thick and warm (as I have knitted them in a little thicker yarn than I usually use for socks) and they have a beautiful pattern :)

Patten: Waihi by Sezza
Modifications: In the pattern the sock has the lace and cable pattern in the front of the leg and just the lace pattern in the back. I wanted to have the lace and cable pattern all around the leg, so I casted on 70 sts and added 1 st at each end of chart A. Made the heel over 35 sts.
Yarn: 104 g Ida Strømpegarn #336. The colour is much darker than in the photos, so I think the two photos below shows the colour the best.
Needles: 2,5 mm

FO :: Freya

I've been testknitting this beautiful shawl for Drømme.
I choose to knit it with smaller needles, but it turned out big enough.
It's an easy pattern to memorize and I just love the hearts!

WIP :: Freya

Reading: I'm still reading my way to the brick of a book as A Storm of Swords: Blood and Gold (A Song of Ice and Fire #3.2)by George R.R. Martin is.

Knitting: I'm test knitting Freya - a beautiful shawl with hearts. Of course it had to be pink. It's a fast knit and the pattern is easy to memorize :)

We've been without an internet connection since monday morning and until yesterday. So I've been very productive ;) Finished the shawl, a sweater (fo post coming) and started a second marius onesie.

Reading: I've finished the Kadaverdoktoren (Madeleine Karno #1) the other day. It was good, but not as good as I had hoped it would be. But I think I will read the next book as I think it has potential to be a good series

I'm halfway through The Sweetnes at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce #1) and I love it! It's funny, exciting and strange at the same time! 
And The House at Riverton is waiting for me once I finish this :) Looking forward to continue reading it :)

Knitting: The onesie is done - just need to buy buttons. So hopefully there will be a fo post soon. I have casted on a hat in the same pattern. My Asthon shawl is nearly done. I have two lace borders left. There is a kal going on in the Knit Like A Latvian group with patterns from the book Latvieša Cimdi. I have started on a pair, but so far they seem to be too big for me... 90 st on 2 mm needles. But I will make on and see how it turns out and hopefully there will be yarn left for the second.

Reading: In Norway we read a lot of mystery/crime books during Easter, so I put away The House at Riverton and found a couple of mystery books in my shelf :) Kadaverdoktoren (Madeleine Karno, #1)
by Lene Kaaberbøl and The Sweetnes at the Bottom of the Pie (Flavia de Luce #1) by Alan Bradley. Loving both so far :)

Knitting: My plans to finish the onesie before I started something new didn't happend.. I desided to knit the onesie with a round yoke instead of set in sleeves, but had to borrow a pattern from my mom to do it. So in the meantime I casted on Ashton and started a pair of stripy socks.

Weekending :: The start of Easter

Easter break started for the kids and hubby on Friday afternoon
and they will not go back to school and work until April the 2nd.
So we can sleep a little longer, stay up a little later and hopefully spend a lot of time outdoors :)
We went skiing on Saturday.
The sun came out for a few hours, but since then it's been snowing and snowing.
Homemade pizza.
I stayed up late and watched the last episodes in the 5th series of True Blood.
And I must say I am so disappointed - what happend to this series?
I really liked the books, but there is little left from the books in the series...
I felt the need for a new project, so I unwinded some yarn and casted on a shawl.
We ate dinner with my mom and my siblings today.
We brought home a "new" kitchen table and chairs :)
The easter decorations has been brought up from the basement, 
but still sits in the box. I'll get the kids to decorate tomorrow.
I haven't had time to knit today, so I'm going to curl up on the sofa and knit a few rows on the shawl.
