Purple Bluebell socks

New socks for Eirin :)

My 11th pair so far in the 52ppiv. I guess I'm a little behind... But I'm not going to stress ;) Knitting should be fun, not a chore.

The pattern is a cuff down sock, but I knitted it as a toe-up to make sure I had enough yarn, but also to make the bluebells the right way. Making them hang down.

Pattern: Bluebell rib from Sensational Knitted Socks.
Yarn: 44 g King Kole Zig Zag colorway 741.
Needles: 2,5 mm.
Size: 8 years, 54 st.

I see that I really need to get some sock blockers... The pattern doesn't show here at all :(

I guessed I would use up all of the yarn since it was leftovers after my own socks. But I had just enough left to crochet a square for my leftover sock yarn blanket too :)

And there's no doubt anymore - Fall is here. The lawn is covered in yellow leaves and today the rain is pouring down... Eirin is wearing a Hello Kitty hat I made for her about 2 years ago :) Endre is wearing a stripy hat I crochet earlier this summer. It's so great when the kids like to wear the things I make for them :)

What type of heel do you knit?

Sock's on the needles for Eirin :)

After reading Pinneguri's post about her not knowing what a short-row heel was, I came to think about heels ;) The short-row heel is my favourite! I knit it all the time. It's easy, fast and best of all, I don't havet to pick up any stitches ;) I only have to knit another heel when I knit socks for Hubby. Usually a type of  french heel. The short-row heel  gets to small for him.
And I know there are heels I haven't knitted too.  A afterthought heel i.e.

By the sea

Yesterday we had this view most of the day.

No one got a fish bigger than this... But the kids didn't care. The fun part is to catch one, not the size ;)

Endre didn't had the patient to fish, so he looked for other treasures.

New snow, purple socks and a elk family

It's been raining (pouring down) non-stop since Friday. And this morning we woke up to new snow on the mountains and 4 C. Looks like summer is over for this year.

Luckily most of the snow has melted through the day as the sun came out.

So I just have to keep up with my sock knitting to  keep my toes warm. There haven't been many days I have walked barefoot this summer...I haven't even put away the wool clothes during summer this year... Makes it all easier to see what I have to make though ;)

This was a easy pattern to knit. And I used only 58 g, so I could have knitted the leg much longer. Looks like maybe Eirin will get a pair of purple socks too :)

With all the rain that has came during the weekend, we've had a bit of cabin fever here. So when the sun came out today we had to head out and soak up some sunlight, knit and jump in the water puddles ;) The air has gotten that special cold and crisp smell which I love. I do like fall in all it's way, but I do think it has come a bit too early this year...

On Thursday this little family was in the hill behind our house. I tried to come a bit closer to take better photos, but they got scared.

I think my sock knitting mojo is back :)

I haven't knitted socks for a long time. Well, a long time for me it is ;) From always knitting on a pair to not complete a single pair for weeks, it feels like a long time ago since I casted off a pair of socks. But it finally seems like the sock knitting mojo is back! I have casted on for two new pairs this week, so hopefully there will be some finished socks soon :)

Pattern: Tsunami by Judy Sumner, from the book Knitted socks east and west - a great book!
Yarn: 74 g Lana Grossa Meilenweit 100 Cotton Fantasy Colorway 814.
Needles: 2,5 mm.

It was a great pattern to memorise, and a fast knit when I just put my mind to it.  The pattern is made up of knit and purl st and a small cable.

Happiness is...

...to fine enough ripe cloudberries so I could make jam when I got home :)

At the playground, dragonfly and builing a bridge

We've spent the morning in the playground in the park :) Playing, eating pizza and watching a grey heron and ducks.

Later in the day the kids managed to catch a dragonfly. Look at Endre's face - it's the first time he sees one :)

Earlier this week the boys have been busy building a bridge over a little creek we have to cross (jump over) when we go hiking up to our lean-to. And today they desided to make a sign. Translated it means "Creek Bridge".

What took me days to knit, was frogged in a couple of minutes....

Beautiful colours, don't you think? This was a skein of yarn called "Rubber grapes" which I got a few months ago in the Spunky Eclectic yarn club. I new this was not made to become a pair of socks, so I casted on for a necherchief. The pattern was easy to memorise and it was quite a fast knit. As my ball of yarn made it to the end I casted off only to find it to short in lenght to wrap around my neck... I guess I could tie a knot at the back of my neck, but I don't like that... So I frogged it instead. Now I need to look for a wider, slimmer shawl.

Baby sweater and a hike

First of all I'll have to let you know that I'm working on importing our hiking blog into this on. It's just to much work to blog in several places... So I know there will be some links not working and maybe some post in the past that will have the same story in different ways, but I hope I'll get around and fix some of it ;)

A friend of mine gave birth to a adorable little girl on Endre's birthday! So finally I could cast on for this sweet little jacket.

Pattern: Baby Sweater on Two Needles by Elizabet Zimmermann.
Yarn: 68 g Babyull from Gjestal # 823.
Needles: 3,5 mm.
Notes: Button holes on row 4, 20, 36, 52, 68, 84 and 100
Increase on row 9, 17 and 27
Start gull pattern on row 28
I knitted the sleeves on dpns afterwards
Put the sleeve st on hold on row 45
After 93 rows I started the garter-st ending
I knitted 40 rows on the sleeve before I started the garter-st ending. I might have knitted a few rows more, because they got a little short.

After a very rainy day yesterday, with the rain pouring down, we had to get those ants out of the kids pants ;) So we went hiking. We made a new "toy" - some ropes to practise the balance on.

The tabanus and deer flies have come with the heat :(  Here's Endre examining one after it's been hit.

And the bog is full of unripe cloudberry :)

52 books in 52 weeks update

I'm in summer mood so I haven't read that many books in July... As usual I've highlighted the one I loved. I finished the trilogy by B. Andreas Bull-Hansen - and it's a long time since I've read so great books!!
