Hiking

Untitled

Yesterday my oldest son and I went hiking to Rapet 534 masl. Last time I hiked up this mountain was 7 years ago and I had forgotten how steep it was..!

The last day in 2012

Untitled

The ice on the lake is safe. So we brought our kick-sled's and went for a ride :)

Some of you might remember that we spent over six months without water a couple of years ago as it froze. We had the same kind of weather as we are having now with little snow and cold temperatures.
Yesterday we noticed that our water turned muddy and it lost pressure. So Hubby went up to our well made a hole and checked how much water we have. It's water there, but it's not much water coming in to the well as the ground is frozen and the water has packed it self above the well as you can see in the photo below.
So we are saving water to prevent the well from going dry and we are hoping the water won't freeze. Some of our neighbors have already lost their water...

Fall is my favourite season

It's been a week with some wonderful fall weather. We've had temperatures up around 15 C, so it's been great to spend time outside. The kids and I was on a local childrens club on Thursday. And Endre was soaking wet after playing in the water, throwing stones and looking for treasures :) Eirin was just a huge, big smile after riding the horse Salt & Pepper :)
And yesterday was spent by the lean-to picking berries. We picked blueberries, lingonberries and black crowberries. We make jam of the blue - and lingon berries. We use lingonberry jam as a accessory to meat dinner. Like meatcakes in gravy or game meat. I'm going to make syrup of the crowberries.
We have some berries in the garden as well. Blackcurrant and the berries from the Bird Cherry. I haven't used the Bird cherry berries before, but have found a recipe for a liquer. So if I have enough berries I might give it a try ;)
While we were in the forest, some sheep got close and the kids managed to pet one of them before they ran away. And nothing tastes as good as lunch made over an open fire! We had fishcake burgers ;)

Finally some snow and ice skating

Finally some snow. (3/356)

Finally the snow we've been waiting for arrived!
So we've been outside for hours today - having a great time.
And after some shoveling the lake was ready for ice skating :)

Shoveling snow to make a place to skate.

Jumping fish

by the lake1

After seeing several big salmons or trouts jumping at
the lake, we deside to go and have a look.
We saw several big ones jumping close to land. I tried to
catch some in a picture, but they jumps so fast...

by the lake2

But you know kids and water ;)
After a while the fun about standing still looking for fish got boring...
And with all the splashing the fish disappeared...

but the forcast has warmer weather for the weekend
so I think we'll go for a hike :)

Summer

geitrams

There's no doubt, the summer is coming to an end. Which we also can see at the fireweed. It blooms from the bottom an dup, and now there is not many spuds left before the top is blooming... But we have had three great weeks with summerweather which we can look back at now when the fall is coming.

at the lake2

In the middel of the week we went to Tårnvatnet so the kids could bathe.
It's very shallow here, so the water was somewhat "warm" ;)

Berry picking

We went to the lean-to this weekend and picked berries.

cloudberries

The bogs is full of cloudberries this year!

bilberries

And the bilberries are big. We just picked enough for supper this time.
So we have to go and pick more next week ;)

yum

And it tasted good!

Warming at the fire before bedtime

We gathered around the fire before bedtime. Not that is was cold, but
it's part of the cosiness :)

Finally asleep ;)

Endre and I slept in the tent while Hubby and the other kids slept in
the lean-to. It took a while before Endre settled and fall asleep...

Morning mist

And even if one fall asleep late, one wake up early when camping
(at least Endre do so..) And the morning mist hang over the mountains.

Our camp

When the mist lighten, big rainclouds appeared. So we had breakfast,
played a little and packed our stuff and went home. Just in
time before a heavy rainfall.
