Colour Your World Socks

Earlier this year I won he pattern for these socks in a giveaway on the Arctic knitting podcast. And when Skeindeer, who is the designer, decided to have knit along them I had to cast on a pair. I m not super happy about my colour choices, but I'm trying to knit up my stash and this was what I found.

And as you can see, autumn is here, although we are having some late summer warmth this week. Today we reached 18 C and it felt so good to be outside!

The Forgotten Blanket

8 years ago I started crocheting blankets for all three of my kids. Somehow I lost the mojo and the squares were put away in a bag... Earlier this spring my youngest son helped me go through my yarn stash and we came upon said bag. When I told him that most of the squares were for a blanket for him he really wanted me to finish it. So this has been my main project this summer. I had made about 1/3 of the squares I needed so it felt like a manageable projecs. I had some yarn in the right colour in my stash, but some of the dye lots were not the same. It's most obvious in the blue squares, but he doesn't care ;)

He was so happy when I finally told him it was finished! He has been following the progress this summer and since I told him I was going to finish it I had to set other projects aside. And the other two blankets..? No, I'm not going to finish them- I asked the teenagers if they wanted a blanket, but they were not interested.. I think the squares I have made for my daughters blanket might become a pillow. I'll have to make a few more squares though.

Loppa

I hope you all have had a great summer! The kids are back to school this week and things are slowly getting back to normal. I've been knitting a bit this few weeks finishing a kofte and casted on a couple of new projects, but mostly I've been crocheting on a forgotten project. More about that later this week :)

So more about my kofte. It's Loppa or the Flea cadigan by Pinneguri. Skeindeer Knits and Voolenvine have been hosting a knit along for this cardigan this summer. And they still haven't set an end date so you have time to cast one on.

I knitted mine in leftovers from my Setesdal kofte. It's the same grey, but it looks so different with purple instead of pink.

Pattern: Loppa
Yarn: Dark and light grey and pink in Tove, purple and blue in Ask and dark blue in pt2
Needles: 2,5 mm / US 1.5 and 3 mm / US 2.5

I decided to do my own twist on the patterning at the bottom of the sleeves and the body and picked two of the colours I liked best.

I did the waist shaping and I think it looks good. The photo was taken on a really sunny day so the colours are more true in the above photoes.

We have been hiking a bit and spent time in the forest at our lean-to picking cloudberries. And I really hope we will have a great autumn so we can do more of it! It's in the outdoors and in nature I feel that I can build up new energy and gather inspiration.

Ludwig, Fishing and a Hike To Varto

After finishing my Not so matching stripes socks, I decided to use the remaining yarn for a pair of Ludwig socks. The pattern is from the Op-Art socks book by Stephanie van der Linden and it's my first time knitting mosaic knitting. Which I thought was complicated, but it really isn't as the effect is made by slipped stitches. So I think I 'll have to find another mosaic pattern to try out because these socks was really fun to knit - its almost like knitting a self striping sock, just one more stripe ;)

Yarn: Eventyr #901 and #903
Needles: 2,25 mm / US 1 and 2,5 mm / US 1.5 (for the cuffs only)
Size: 72 sts

The gusset decreases was knitted under the foot, a type of decrease I tend to like more and more as it doesn't interrupt the pattern as much.

We have been out fishing again. Still no luck catching some big fishes yet, but the boys had some fun time anyhow :)

After we tried our luck fishing we went on a little hike to Varto a small hilltop 216 masl nearby.

   

We walked by a few horses that was trying to find some shade up among the trees.

Socks, Old Saw mill and Petroglyphs

I cast on these socks in the beginning of June when we had some great warm summer weather. Now all the pretty wildflowers are in bloom and matches my Fabel yarn leftovers socks perfectly :)

We went on a small road trip the other day and visited an old saw mill from 1796 - Aursfjordsaga.

Lots of beautiful hand craft!

We also stopped by a rock carving site or petroglyphs at Tennes. The oldest ones here are 7000 years old.

Some of the carvings was hard to see because they have decided to stop painting them red, so many of them had faded a lot or had no paint left.

Fishing

We went fishing today, but only tiny little fishes was biting. 

Hopefully we'll have better luck next time :)

I've also finished a little gift for a girl in the UK.

Hiking

Yesterday my oldest son and I went hiking to Rapet 534 masl. Last time I hiked up this mountain was 7 years ago and I had forgotten how steep it was..!

But the view was impeccable!
