On The Needles :: Bovary and Diamonds

 I stubled upon a mystery kal from General Hogbuffer. I love all of his pattern so I decided to cast on and see how this pair would turn out. I've completed 2 clues and I really like it so far :)
The pattern for the blue sock is Diamond Socks - a pair I found in one of my knitting bag the other day... I didn't remember casting them on, but then again I had just knitted a couple of rouns on it...

FO :: Mirkwood

I bought some Opal in The Little Prince series a while ago and wanted to knit a pair of socks in stockinette to keep the colours and stripes. But I also wanted it to be a little more challenging than just a plain vanilla socks. I have had Mirkwood in my queue for a while and decided it would be a great pattern for this yarn. I really wanted the socks to match, but as you can see one of them has a litte pink toe... Not sure what's happened, but I think it's my gauge. I have used a month knitting this pair and that's a long time for a pair of socks for me and I guess the second sock was knitted a little looser.. But I am ok with it. I love the colours so a little difference like this doesn't matter.

It's the first time (I think..) that I have knitted a eye of partridge heel and I quite like it. But next time I'll knit it without the 3 sts in seed stitch at the edge. I think it will look prettier to pick up the stitches along the edge as I would do with a slip stitch heel.

In My Garden

It's been a cold, rainy and windy start of this summer... For weeks it's been raining and the temperature has been just around 5 C. So when we suddenly had a glimpse of sun yesterday, there was no doubt in my mind as where to spend the day! Some flowers are already flowering and some are soon to follow. I have been planting out some plants and vegatables, hoping they will survive... I have also started to add more raised beds to my vegetable garden. So we'll see if I manage to plant something more this summer. You know, summer is short here in the north...

And I think I might have mention that Hubby was building me a green house..or maybe I have forgotten it?? Anyway - here it is. He finished it late last fall and it's built almost of recycled materials. We just had to buy some materials for the roof part. It needs a bit of paint and since it's the first year I am using it, I know there will be some things I will want to change inside it. I'll keep you posted ;)

Eirin and Endre have picked seeds and planted them in a shared raised bed :)

The tomatoes seems to like it here - so hopefully there will be tomatoes soon!

I love to look for Kjuker (norwegian) or Tinder funguses when we're walking in the forest. Last time I found so many pretty ones :)

Fomes fomentarius (commonly known as the tinder fungus, false tinder fungus, hoof fungus, tinder conk, tinder polypore or ice man fungus) is a species of fungal plant pathogen found in Europe, Asia, Africa and North America. The species produces very large polypore fruit bodies which are shaped like a horse's hoof and vary in colour from a silvery grey to almost black, though they are normally brown. It grows on the side of various species of tree, which it infects through broken bark, causing rot. The species typically continues to live on trees long after they have died, changing from a parasite to a decomposer.

FO :: Potholders

I am trying to use up some of my cotton stash - so another pair of potholders got of my hook earlier this week. They are made of some unknown yarn - no label... and the pattern is from a Norwegian magazine. There is another pair of potholders in it I might crochet as well ;) But then I think we have enough potholders!

First Cucumber :)

Finally we could harvest our first cucmber :)
The kids been eying it for days now! And it tasted so good!
And as you can see - we can look forward to several more.
This is just 1 of  4 cucumber plants. It's amazing what can be grown in a windowsill!!

Mom, can we please get one??

Hubby's brother and his girlfriend has bought a sheepfarm a few weeks ago. And we have been visiting them a couple of times this weekend. Eirin and Endre was so fond of these little motherless lambs. Lots of cuddling and love! And they got to help bottlefeed them too :) Sorry for some blurry photos, but neither kids or lambs could stand still for very long ;)
They also have hens and horses. So I guess there will be some riding later in the summer :)
