Mom, can we please get one??

Hubby's brother and his girlfriend has bought a sheepfarm a few weeks ago. And we have been visiting them a couple of times this weekend. Eirin and Endre was so fond of these little motherless lambs. Lots of cuddling and love! And they got to help bottlefeed them too :) Sorry for some blurry photos, but neither kids or lambs could stand still for very long ;)
They also have hens and horses. So I guess there will be some riding later in the summer :)

I bought it a few years ago and every winter I am 

afraid it will die due to lack of sunlight during our polar nights.

But every spring it burst with new leaves and flowers like this :)

A Morning Walk In The Forest

I decided to go for an early morning walk in the forest today and soak in some fresh spring air. And it felt so good! And this is spring in Norway in late May. Still snow, ice on the lake and not much green... But both the snow and the ice are melting and buds and leaves are bursting out. And as always, we seem to go from winter to summer in just a few days, skipping spring altogether... So I guess this year is no exception. I also found a lot of fresh moose poop. Two young mooses were walking down by the lake yesterday, so I guess they have been looking for food.
I have to ask those of you from who lives in other countries with moose - are you afraid of them?
We like to watch natre programes or series like Alaska the Last Frontier on tv, and it seem like they are so afraid of meeting a moose when they are out in the forest. And it seems like they kill a lot of people too. I have never heard of anyone being killed by a moose here in Norway. And we were never taught to be afraid of the moose when we were kids either. I think the moose is more afraid of us..

FO :: Another Rye

About a month ago I decided to cast on a pair of socks with a skein of yarn I had saved in my stash for years. It looked beautiful in the skein, but it turned out to be hevily varigated... So finding a pattern was not easy. I first casted on the Rib Fantastic Socks, but I ripped back to the cuff after knitting halfway down the leg. The pattern got lost in the yarn. Then I decided to try the Rye pattern. And it worked :) This is my 7th pair of Rye socks and I still like the pattern. It's mindless, but with a little variation so it doesn't get boring.

Gosh, it's been a while since I have posted here... I had a tiny Macro Monday post yesterday though ;)
I just needed a bit of time away from all kinds of social media "things" - and it felt good. But I started to miss blogging, so here I am ;) I haven't been knitting so much these weeks. Most time has been spent outdoors fixing the greenhouse and tending my plants and seedling.
But I have finished a pair of socks that is all mine. It's made in Arne & Carlos yarn and I love them!

I was kind of lying when I said that I haden't been knitting much. I got a phone call from Tove Fevang a couple of weeks ago and she wondered if I could knit two sweaters for a new book she is making. And of course I had to say yes :) They are knitted from the same pattern, but with two different yarn types. The first one is made with Alpakka/Silke and the other with Tynn Merino. It was a fast and easy pattern to knit although there was a mistake in the first version of the pattern, so two of the colours changed place. Not my fault, but it was at the yoke, so just a small part had to be fixed. I'll show you photos when the book is out :)

Macro Monday :: Zucchini Flower

The greenhouse is finally warm enough for my plants.
So today I have been planting among other things some zucchini plants.
One of them already has a big flower bud :)

FO :: Yellow Stripes

So instead of knitting on the Saga Eskimo kofte, I casted on a pair of socks...
But they were so fun to knit - just one more yellow stripe, and before I knew it they were done :)
They are for Hubby and I am so pleased with getting the stripes to match perfectly!! and I love the yellow and grey combination. I think I might need to knit myself a kofte in grey with yellow pattern or a grey shawl with yellow stripes... I'll have to search Ravelry a bit I think ;)

FO :: Biohazard Socks

I'm so lucky that all of my kids likes to wear woolsocks. And even though my oldest son now have bigger feet than his dad, I seem to knit him a lot of socks ;) I have a lot of orange Sisu in my stash and I searched for a stranded sock pattern I could use it for. I found this and it I just had to make a pair for my son. We all know teenage boys' feets can smell a bit now and then, so a pair with the biohazard symbol on seemed appropriate ;)
In the pattern you was supposed to repeat the chart two times for the leg. But I only did it once or the leg would have been much too long. I think my row gauge is off because I knitted them on bigger needles to make sure they didn't get too snug around the heel. The bright orange is more accurate on the photos below.

On The Needles :: Rib Fantastic & Saga Eskimo

Knitting: Two pairs of socks has been done since last time I had a One The Needles post. First was the Arne & Carlos socks for Hubby and yesterday I finished my son's Biohazard socks. A blog post will come later this week. So with those off the needles I had to cast on a new pair ;) I made Endre choose a skein in my stash and he picked a skein from Fyberspates that I have been saving for years. It looked SO much prettier in the skein than knit up... It's a very busy yarn, so I searched for a pattern and ended up with one from one of my books - Rib Fantastic. Not super happy about how the yarn and the pattern are knitting up, but I think I will knit a bit more before I decide to knit or frog...

I am also knitting on Eirin's kofte (cardigan). I hoped to finish it during Easter, but obviously that didn't happend... I have devided for sleeves and it should be a fast knit as the body is knitted in just the main colour. So hopefully I will have it done sometime next week, we'll see ;) I made her try it on the other day before she went to school, and luckily it fits her (photo below).

Drinking: Today is a strong black tea kind of day, so I am drinking Lipton's Yellow Label.

Reading: I have been reading in this brick of a book since the beginning of December last year... And now I am finally at the end with just one last chapter. Just in time for the new season of the Game of Thrones series :) I know the first episode was out on Monday, but Hubby and I are going to watch it this weekend :) And what a book it has been! Can't wait to read the next one.
