FO :: Gloves & Mittens

Two more gifts are off the needles and I found a pair of mittens I have forgotten to blog about.

Despite I will have to knit 10 fingers, I really have to knit a pair for myself soon.
But when I just started and set my mind to it, the fingers was knit up pretty fast.

I have made a little mistake on of the fingers on the left glove.. Can you see it?

I think this must be my favorite pattern from the booklet Selbustrikk. This is the 4th pair I have knitted and still none for me... So I guess I'll have to make myself a pair of these too ;)

Pattern: 8. Damevott / Woman's mitten
Yarn: 29 g Senjagarn black and 29 g Sisu white
Needles: 2,5 mm / US 1,5 and 3 mm / US 2,5

I got this as a pattern and yarn kit for my birthday a few years ago and knitted them back in August. I never got around to blog about them. The reason for that is that I didn't lie them when they were done.. As you might see, they are not the same size. The rigt mitten is much snugger and I can feel it quite well when I put them on. I have knitted them with the same needles, but the tension must have changed..
So now when I knit mittens I knit them simultaneous. Not on magic loop, but on two sets on dpns. I knit both cuffs, then both thumb increase, both hand and finally the decrease. That way I manage to keep the tension the same on both.
But I'll start using them and see if the snug mitten will grow a bit when it get wet in the snow and so on..

FO :: Julekuler

The tree has been up a week or so now. And as you can see, there are some knitted deorations on it :)

This year I decided to knit a few more julekuler. As you all know Arne & Carlos gave out a book some years ago, but they also gave out an adventscalender with a new julekule pattern to knit each day. So I made some with the names of the kids on and one with hearts.

FO :: Lots of Mittens

So, I had decided not to knit any gifts this year... But then all of a sudden I found myself knitting all this mittens...     Money saved and I know we'll be giving lots of useful gifts this year!

The patterns are from various booklets and they are mostly knitted in Østlandsgarn.

And I'm not done yet. I have one pair of mittens and one pair of gloves to finish before christmas.

"Kofte Fever"

For the past two years, there has been a fever here in Norway. A Kofte fever.
A kofte is a generic term for various types, open or closed garment to cover the upper body with .
There can be long or short  jackets, coats or sweaters to pull over the head.
It all started when Liv, an interior blogger had some old knitted jackets in her blog pictures. Her readers started to ask her about the jackets and if she knew about the patterns. She didn't, but asked her readers to help. And so the hunt for the patterns started - Koftejakten. It resulted in a facebook group with almost 60 000 members who share old kofte patterns and pictures of their knitted jackets.  Last year Liv and Lene Samsøe gave out Kofteboken with lots of beautiful patterns. My mom knitted the jacket on the front page. It's the Bøvertun with a round yoke :)

This spring I was asked if I wanted to knit a jacket for the second Koftebok - and of course I would!                                     So I knitted the Mette jacket. More details can be found here on my ravelry project page.

Together with the Frøkengårdskofte on the front page, these are my favourites from the Kofteboken 2.   

And after all the inspiration I got from looking through both the new and the old Koftebok, I realized I had to finish Eirin's Saga Eskimo kofte. All the knitting has been finished for months. So all I had to do was find me sewing machine and steek. It's always a bit scary, but it seems like it gets easier each time ;) So hopefully I'll have the buttonbands knitted in no time and *fingers crossed*, I hope she actually will wear it... She's a tough one when it come to clothes *sigh*

FO :: Reyna Shawl

First I have to apologize for the bad pictures! The light is terrible now so all the colours fade out and the white turns into a light blue... But that's just how it is around here these days - and I can't wait until spring to take pictures again ;)

Anyway - my Reyna Shawl has been off the needles a long time. I just had to sew in a couple of ends and you know how long such a small task can take... It was a fun and quick knit and I might knit it again. The pink is more brighter - so if you look at the picture on my ravelry project you get a better idea of how it looks!

This used up all of my yarn, but I wish it was a little bit bigger. So if I am to knit i again I will use more yarn and add some lace or garter ridges at the bottom.

I've also knittied some socks since last time i posted something knitted. The colours turned out not good in this light... They are black and purple with stripes of green and yellow neon. They are on my ravelry page if you want more details.

We had a very cold Sunday walk with -16 C today. The sun is just above the horizon so the sky was pink a nd beautiful! We are heading into the polar nights now and will not be seeing her again for about two months.

Knitting: So I couldn't stay away from sock knitting very long ;) To make them a bit more interesting and not just the standard vanilla sock, I casted on a pair of Zigzagular Socks. The yarn is Regia Fluormania. The Saga Eskimo kofte is off the needles - so I just have to be brave and steek it!!

Fall is here

It's been a month since I posted last. And it's been a month with some wonderful fall weather, the first frost and drizzle of snow on the mountains, but it's also been a month with me having one of my periodes of dark moods... I seem to get a little sad and low on energy when winter and dark days comes, but this year it hit me early and hard... Hopefully it will not get any worse and I have decided I need to fill my days with thing that makes me happy :) Blogging used to do that, so I'll have to try to find back the joy of doing this.

But enough about me and my troubles. How are you, have you been knitting beautiful things the month I have been gone? I have been knitting, although not as much as I usually do.. There have actually been several days in a row without knitting *shock*, but those days has been spent with a book in my lap instead. I'm reading the Outlander series and are currently on book four, Drums of Autumn - Love this series and cant wait for the second season of the tv series to come out!!

Some of the things that have been on my needles are these socks. I've knitted a few other socks, but they are not as pretty as these ones ;) You'll find them on my Ravelry page.

In the beginning of this week I dugged out this jacket I started back in March.
It's a Saga Eskimo kofte for Eirin and I just have the second sleeve to knit before the scary steeking can begin... I'm hoping to finish it during the weekend and hopefully she will use it. She's known to not like wool garments very much as she thinks everything itches. But I'm knitting this in Duo which is a merino/cotton blend so it should not itch a bit.

And I'm not sure if I dare say it, but I'm starting to feel a bit fed up of mindless sock knitting!! But I still enjoy having something mindless on the needles so I casted on a Reyna shawl. Love the colours and it's so fun to knit :)

And lastly a blurry mobil photo of the wonderful Aurora we had last night.

It's been years since I last saw so much and so bright northern lights. I need a better camera and to learn the skills to take some better photos of it!

FO :: Rye

Fall is here as you can see from the yellow leaves... But I don't mind as fall is my favorite season.
I have finished a pair of Rye in some beautiful yarn from Baerenwolle. I really need to get some more of her yarn!

My oldest got to choose a ball of sock yarn and I picked the pattern.
The yarn and the pattern turned out to be a perfect match :)
This is the 5th pair I've knitted with this pattern, but I still haven't made one for myself...
So I guess I'll have to cast on a pair soon. Just need to find the perfect yarn ;)
