Pretty, but smelly...

flower1

When we sat down by our diningtable to have breakfast this morning we saw that our Stapelia grandiflora (Starfish flower or Stor ordensblomst) had open one of it's spud. And within some hours it got completely open and curled. It's a really beautiful flower, but it smell terrible - to attract flies. Here is a great site. I wish I could have other sorts of this. So if anyone have one I'd be happy if you would share a cutting :)

  7. Tammy, no we don't have many flies here at the moment *lol*
Since the weather isn't very warm, we keep the door and windows closed.

  8. That is amazing, but to be honest, I'm not surprised it's stinky. We bought a fly trap device for our backyard and when we added water to it, we got the smell of liquid poo. I guess flies like poo so it makes sense but .. ick!

  11. Hei - I was searching the net for "ordensblomst", because I have one myself. It opened today. It's got a yellow-green main colour with dark burgundy spots like a leopard. I don't know what kind of "ordensblomst" it is. Got it at a market in Southern Spain (where I have an apartment), and don't know if it would transport from here. If you are interested we could give it a try. I live in Oslo. I*m in Spain the next week. Du kan kontakte meg på arellsvekrøllalfapunktumno
